Power-Barre Instructors

Jillian Michaels has been teaching dance for 15 years. She worked in Jacksonville at 3 studios while earning her BA in Dance Education. She founded, established, and ran a dance program at NAF Atsugi outside of Tokyo, Japan for 6 years. The foundation she built for the program gave it the means to still exist today, 9 years after leaving. Since being back in the United States, Jillian has worked for 3 dance schools and studios serving as Ballet Director, Artistic Director, and Instructor. She was an adjunct professor of Ballet at University of Tampa for 3 years and still returns as a guest speaker regarding injury prevention and rehabilitation and her favorite technique, ballet. She currently works at Longleaf Elementary School during the week as choreographer for their nationally acclaimed show choir and dance program. Jillian is also co-founder and artistic director of the Pasco Performing Arts Council.

Jillian has always had a passion for creating curriculum that is safe and effective for her students.  She spent much of her training years in pain from various preventable injuries and has made it her mission that her students will not have to endure the same limitations to their potential dance careers.  With American Ballet Theatre Teaching Curriculum certifications preprimary though level 7, her bachelors degree in Dance Education K-12, and multiple Continuing Education courses with focus on pedagogy and kinesiology, Jillian has created Power-Barre.  She contributes the curriculum and classes to her ability to be pain free, fully active, and stronger than ever in her post dance career days.

Carol’s lifelong passion of movement began with her first ballet class at the age of six.  She diligently pursued dance throughout her youth and into her adult years, including dancing with elite dance programs such as the North Carolina School of the Arts and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival.  Carol earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance Performance and Choreography from Arizona State University in 1986.  Following graduation she enjoyed a professional career as a free-lance dance artist in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas.

Carol was led to The Pilates Method after sustaining a spinal injury.  Having discovered the personal benefits Pilates has to offer, she focused her love of movement into sharing those benefits with others. Carol passed her exam and first became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2000 with The American Council on Exercise (ACE). She began teaching The Pilates Method in 1999 and completed her comprehensive certification in 2001 with the PhysicalMind Institute.

Carol worked as an instructor for eight years at a Pilates certifying studio in Tampa, Florida where she was a model instructor for trainees working to certify in The Pilates Method.  In 2004, Carol began studying the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® and in 2006, was certified as a Level 1 GYROTONIC® instructor.  Through yearly continuing education workshops, she improves her skills and has studied the Level 2 protocol.

In 2007, Carol moved to the Dallas, Texas area with her new husband and continued as a Pilates and GYROTONIC® instructor. Growing and learning from many new people and new movement styles. Dallas was a great 3+ years!

Carol is a student of her craft and her continuing education and study of other styles of Pilates has provided experience in both classical and contemporary Pilates. Her focus is on continuing to  pursue and study the classical method of  Joe’s” Contrology”.

In 2010, Carol and her husband Dave moved back to the Tampa Bay area with their Vizsla Cabi. Believing to start a family and continue teaching… In 2012, they welcomed twin girls into their family!  Praise be to God in the name of Jesus Christ! There is a whole lot of story from then till now…

Blessed beyond measure! When not enjoying her family, she continues to pursue her love of teaching and training and sneaking in a little ballroom dance fun!
